How to reach Khardung La
Drive from Leh toward Nubra on a locally approved vehicle route. Snow, road work and traffic controls affect access.
Where to stay
There is no tourist overnight at the pass. Continue to Nubra or return to Leh as planned.
Altitude and practical planning
Khardung La is at About 5,359 m. Conditions can change quickly in Ladakh. Carry identification, cash, warm layers, water and essential medication. Confirm current roads, permits and operating accommodation before leaving Leh or Kargil.
Do not run, drink alcohol or linger when unwell. Descend promptly if symptoms worsen.
