Altitude and practical planning
Pangong Tso is at About 4,225 m. Conditions can change quickly in Ladakh. Carry identification, cash, warm layers, water and essential medication. Confirm current roads, permits and operating accommodation before leaving Leh or Kargil.
Never drive onto the shore or use the lake edge for washing. Travellers with worsening altitude symptoms should descend.
