Why visit Suru Valley?
Suru offers villages, river landscapes, mountain views and a quieter alternative to Ladakh’s classic high-desert circuit.
Best things to see and do
- Sankoo and village landscapes
- Parkachik and glacier views
- Nun and Kun mountain scenery
- Rangdum sector on longer journeys
How to reach Suru Valley
Drive south from Kargil. Road surfaces and seasonal conditions vary toward Rangdum and beyond.
Where to stay
Accommodation becomes simpler away from Kargil. Confirm operational guesthouses and meals before departure.
Altitude and practical planning
Suru Valley is at 2,700–3,500 m. Conditions can change quickly in Ladakh. Carry identification, cash, warm layers, water and essential medication. Confirm current roads, permits and operating accommodation before leaving Leh or Kargil.
Photography is excellent, but villages and fields are working landscapes—ask before entering private land.
