Srinagar to Kargil
Leave early for Sonamarg, Zoji La, Drass and Kargil. Controls, construction and traffic can alter timing. Give the Kargil War Memorial respectful time.
Kargil to Leh
Continue through Mulbekh, Namika La, Fotu La and Lamayuru toward the Indus Valley. Choose only the stops that fit daylight and energy.
Taxi and luggage
Confirm whether a quote is direct or sightseeing, vehicle class, driver stay and pickup. Six adults with large bags may need more than an advertised six-seat vehicle.
Altitude
The road gains height more progressively than flying, but it does not eliminate altitude illness. Keep the first Leh day moderate.
