Tso Moriri and Korzok
Korzok is the main base. The lake is high, exposed and quieter than Pangong. Accommodation is seasonal and practical. Allow time for the settlement and monastery, not only a viewpoint.
Hanle
Hanle is known for dark skies and its observatory landscape, but movement, access and photography depend on current rules. Facilities are limited; confirm arrangements through a registered local operator.
Route design
Do not place Changthang immediately after flying into Leh. Acclimatise around Leh and the Indus Valley before higher sleeping points. Fuel, food, vehicle condition and permissions must be planned together.
What to carry
Expect long distances, few services, weak connectivity, intense sun and cold nights. Carry cash, snacks, refillable water, medicine and offline documents.
