Layered clothing
Pack breathable base layers, fleece, insulated jacket and windproof or waterproof shell. Add comfortable trousers, warm socks, gloves and a beanie. Layers work better than one heavy coat.
Sun and dryness
Bring UV-protective sunglasses, a brimmed hat, high-SPF sunscreen, lip balm and moisturiser. High-altitude sunlight remains intense even when the air feels cold.
Health and documents
Keep prescriptions, first aid, insurance details, identification copies and clinician-recommended medication in hand luggage. Do not bury essential medicine under roof luggage.
Road-day bag
Carry water, snacks, tissue, sanitiser, power bank, charging cable, cash, offline maps and a warm layer within reach.
Pack responsibly
Use a refillable bottle and reusable bag. Avoid unnecessary single-use toiletries and leave room to carry rubbish back from remote areas. Soft bags fit vehicles more easily.
